Finger Lakes Restroom Rentals carries comprehensive insurance on every trailer in our fleet — so you don’t have to worry about it for most rentals. This page explains what we carry, what we ask from you, and how our optional Damage Protection works.
Our Insurance Coverage
Every Finger Lakes Restroom Rentals trailer is covered by $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate Commercial General Liability insurance. We also carry commercial auto on the trucks pulling the trailers and inland marine coverage on the equipment itself.
This means for most rentals — weddings, private events, residential gatherings — you do not need to provide your own insurance. Our policy is the primary coverage.
Certificates of Insurance (COI)
If your venue, municipality, or general contractor requires a Certificate of Insurance naming them as an Additional Insured, we will provide one at no charge. This is standard for wedding venues, public spaces, and construction sites.
How to request a COI:
- Note your COI requirement when you submit your quote request, or email info@flxrents.com with your booking confirmation number.
- Include the exact name and mailing address of the party to be listed as Additional Insured.
- Specify if Waiver of Subrogation, higher limits, or additional endorsements are required.
- Allow at least 5 business days before delivery.
Standard $1M / $2M COIs naming a venue as Additional Insured are free. Specialty endorsements or higher limits (e.g. $2M per occurrence) requested by the venue may carry a pass-through cost, which we will quote in writing before issuing.
When You Need Your Own COI
For most weddings and private events, you do not need to provide a COI to us. However, for the following rentals we require a Certificate of Insurance from the renter listing Finger Lakes Restroom Rentals as Additional Insured at $1,000,000 per occurrence General Liability minimum:
- Commercial bookings of $2,500 or more
- Multi-day rentals of 3 days or longer
- Construction site, job site, or industrial rentals regardless of value
- Municipal events, public festivals, or any event with paid public admission
Most commercial customers and contractors already carry this coverage and can produce a COI same-day from their broker.
Optional Damage Protection
Every rental includes the option to add Damage Protection when you book.
- Cost: 10% of your rental subtotal, with a $75 minimum.
- What’s covered: Accidental damage occurring during normal use of the trailer — minor interior damage, light cosmetic damage, plumbing fixture wear from heavy guest count.
- What’s not covered: Smoking inside the trailer, vandalism, theft of components, illegal use, flushing of prohibited items, total loss of the unit, or damage caused by misuse.
With Damage Protection added, you are released from financial responsibility for the covered categories above. Without it, you remain financially responsible for any damage under the schedule below.
Refundable Damage Hold
A refundable hold of $500 is placed on the card on file 48 hours before delivery. If the trailer is returned in the condition it was delivered — accounting for normal wear and the items in your Damage Protection if added — the hold is released within 5 business days after pickup.
Damage beyond Damage Protection coverage (or any damage, if Damage Protection was declined) is assessed against the hold and itemized in writing with supporting photographs.
Itemized Damage Schedule
The following charges apply when damage or misuse beyond normal wear is documented. Items not covered here are billed at actual repair or replacement cost plus 15% handling.
| Item | Charge |
|---|---|
| Smoking inside the trailer | $500 |
| Flushing foreign objects (clog requiring pump-out) | $250 minimum + actual repair |
| Excessive cleaning (vomit, biohazard, or non-routine soiling) | $250 |
| Missing or damaged accessory (mirrors, dispensers, fixtures) | At cost + 15% |
| Generator refueling (if generator add-on rented) | $50 + fuel |
| Repair to interior finish, plumbing, or exterior body | At cost + 15% |
| Total-loss replacement of trailer | Published replacement cost (see rental agreement) |
Renter Responsibility & Indemnification
You are responsible for the trailer and its condition from the time of delivery until pickup. By renting, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Finger Lakes Restroom Rentals, its owners, employees, and contractors from any claim, damage, or injury arising from your use of the trailer or the conduct of your guests, contractors, or invitees during the rental period.
You agree:
- Not to permit smoking inside the trailer.
- Not to flush foreign objects (trash, food, sanitary products, baby wipes, etc.).
- Not to use the trailer for any illegal purpose.
- To ensure the trailer is accessible for pickup at the agreed time and the delivery area is safe for our team.
What We Are Not Responsible For
We are not liable for:
- Damage to pavements, driveways, lawns, or driving surfaces caused by our delivery vehicles when the placement location was selected or confirmed by you.
- Delays or non-performance caused by weather, road closures, acts of God, or events outside our reasonable control (see also our Cancellation Policy).
- Personal injury arising from guest behavior, alcohol consumption, or use inconsistent with the trailer’s intended purpose.
- Loss of personal property left inside the trailer during or after the rental period.
